The NEMS Network is led by a Steering Committee (SC) of 6-8 members, which includes two Co-chairs. Coordination for the NEMS Network is provided by staff from .
The Co-chairs (in collaboration with UNHSI) perform executive functions for the NEMS Network, provide leadership at meetings, and handle other executive business as necessary.
Members of the SC serve on a volunteer basis and are voted onto the SC by Network members. Every member should serve on the Steering Committee at some point. The process for electing SC members and Co-chairs is as follows:
Network members can also volunteer to serve on the Development Committee (DevCom). The DevCom also meets monthly to explore and discuss various fundraising activities in response to goals and objectives determined by the SC and the broader Network.
The Co-chairs (in collaboration with UNHSI) perform executive functions for the NEMS Network, provide leadership at meetings, and handle other executive business as necessary.
Members of the SC serve on a volunteer basis and are voted onto the SC by Network members. Every member should serve on the Steering Committee at some point. The process for electing SC members and Co-chairs is as follows:
- Every year one of the Co-chairs rotates out and a new person who has been on the SC for at least one year rotates in. The maximum term to serves as a Co-chair is 2 years.
- Every year a request goes to Network members to identify people interested in serving on the Steering Committee. If there is interest a new person or persons joins the SC and a person or person(s) leave the SC.
- Appointing both SC members and the new co-chair is done by consensus vote during one of the face-to-face meetings.
- Semi-annual meeting planning
- Budget and financial issues
- On-going work on goals and objectives
- External project collaborations
